FAQ
Q: Am I a good fit for membership in LakeNet?
A: If you have a desire to expand your business through helping others do the same, LakeNet is for you. Our meetings are not “pitch fests”, in fact we discourage that. Your goal in LakeNet will be to continually educate the other group members about different aspects of your business while actively seeking ways to help the other members through your area of expertise and your referrals.
Q: Can anyone join LakeNet?
A: LakeNet only allows one person per profession. If you are a divorce attorney, we would not allow another divorce attorney. However, we would welcome an attorney that specializes in real estate. Special care is taken to allow as much membership diversity as possible without introducing competition among members for referrals.
Q: What is the process for being approved for membership in LakeNet?
A: The LakeNet application will ask for references. Our membership committee checks them out. Most new members will have heard of LakeNet from an existing member so there is usually a built in point of reference. If you are in a field where we need a professional, we would love to hear from you.
Q: How do LakeNet members handle referrals?
A: Leads can be passed directly to other group members or can be passed at our weekly meeting. We like to keep track of leads passed to benchmark and improve our efforts as our group grows. A member who gives a lead should have the ultimate confidence that the lead will be handled promptly and professionally.
Q: Is there one profession that benefits more than others in LakeNet?
A: Networking is really about the individual. Upon joining LakeNet, or any other networking group, your first focus should be on meeting every one individually then learning how you can provide value. You will find that helping other members in your area of expertise will be the best avenue for generating leads. You will also find that there is often a pent up demand for services when a new member joins. The opportunities for referrals are always available.
Q: Can I bring visitors?
A: Yes. Visitors are encouraged in the areas that are open. If you have any questions, drop us a line. Visitors desiring membership will be submitted to the LakeNet membership committee for approval.
